Conductor In Orchestra

For Conductors

Accepted Conductors may participate in one of three categories:

1. Traditional repertoire only

2. Traditional and contemporary

3. Contemporary repertoire only

For the traditional repertoire, conductors will conduct one overture or one movement from works from this list, which will be conducted in concert:

- Symphony 1 - Beethoven
- Italian Symphony - Mendelssohn

- Overture Magic Flute

- Coriolan Overture

For the contemporary repertoire, each conductor will be assigned one or two pieces, each will be conducted in concert.

Conductors will receive a minimum of 70 minutes of podium time per piece, with the orchestra.

Additional podium time will consist of masterclasses with our conducting faculty, without the orchestra.

The purpose for conducting participants of the Sofia Symphonic Summit is to provide conductors the opportunity to collaborate with a professional orchestra and/or with a composer, with the purpose of enriching one's portfolio, forging new creative networks, and providing insight on brand new compositions.

If applicable, conductors will be placed in contact with composers one month after the close of the application deadline.

Per piece, conductors are scheduled for one rehearsal, one dress rehearsal, and a performance; all with orchestra.

Masterclasses and group discussions are an integral part of the program, allowing participants to learn from each other and the master teachers on staff.
